First and foremost welcome to Dragonball Ripples of Time! The information below is a breakdown of the site's rules, a guide to making your character, how to get yourself involved in the site and a list of staff that you can go to for help.
Site Etiquette:
Be nice and have fun, this is the main rule of the site. The point of role playing online is to develop a character that entertains you and others. The best way of course to do this is by role playing with other people. If you are nice and aiming to have fun then enjoying the site should be relatively simple for you. Feel free to ramble on in the Cbox if you want, but just make sure you are not being rude to others. Any forms of harassment or disrespect will not be tolerated.
Creating you character:
The first thing you are going to want to do when creating your character is jump over to the Character boards so that you can take a look through the different races to determine what race your character shall be. Then once you have decided that you can start creating your character. You will see there is a character template there for you to use, and although we highly recommend using it, you may customize your own if you wish. Once your character as been created either post at the bottom it is complete or add it into the thread name. We will then take a look at it ASAP (should be within 24 hours) and if everything checks out we will give the go ahead to make your starter post. however, there are 2 other options you can take. You can get either your lowest starter PL based on your race, or get your PL based on the Quality of your character profile.
WARNING: Taking the third profile option gives the risk of you getting a Pl LOWER then your starting PL.! So make sure you put in ALOT of effort!
The starter post is going to be your first thread. It is a solo thread in which your character basically takes his first "steps" in the world. In this post feel free to do pretty much whatever you want, but it is your first chance to showcase your character and his/her/its traits. If you look under the Beginners Post section there will be examples of the Admins just as a reference point. Once this is graded a Power Level will be assigned for your starting PL and then you are free to do as you please!
All Characters start with:- Every character can sense Ki signatures that are close to them--but only in comparison to their own strength. Such as that individual is stronger or weaker then I am.
- All characters can channel Ki and use basic Ki attacks; unless of course you wish not too for character purposes.
- Every character is awarded a free x2 power-up to represent how most characters in the show did not tend to walk around at full power. This only exception sis if another beginning transformation is available for your race.
Flight and Ki suppression are not passive and you must learn them through the use of a technique slot.

Guide to Role playing on the Site:
This site is turn based role playing site when it comes to posting. In most situations the order people originally post in will determine the order from then on, with those joining in later added into that rotation based on their first post.
When it comes to moves hitting or techniques taking effect it is up to the person the attack is directed at to decide if they get hit. This does of course not mean you can just dodge everything. If someone is double your Power Level and they use Zanzoken to get behind you to deliver a kick to your spine there is realistically not that great of a chance you will be fast enough to dodge. Of course if you dodge/block everything people will also lose interest in rping with you and we Admins might have to step in. Remember it is about having fun, not winning every fight you are in. Sometimes it's better for a character's story to lose.
That brings me to dodging vs blocking. While dodging attacks is perfectly viable, I would just like to point out that dodging every attack can really insult the person you are roleplaying with. Getting hit by an attack from time to time is more often than not going to really make a fight interesting. In the show, they didn't dodge all the time, why should your character? I personally feel it is more fun to post about getting hit by attack and countering afterwards. I mean how fun is it really just duck out of the way of everything? Did they really do it that much in DBZ, no they get hit... a lot.
Getting into the fray:
Once you have your character created and put up your beginner post there are multiple ways to get your story started. Option one is to post in any of the areas that are listed below in order to interact with the NPCs located there. NPCs are controlled by Admins and each of us has several that we are responsible for. Even still, under most circumstances if you are role playing with an NPC they should respond within 48 hours, most likely sooner. If for some reason they do not respond within 48 hours feel free to PM them as a friendly reminder that they are up, we might accidentally lose track if we are in a number of threads.
A second way to get yourself involved in the site is to see what everyone else is up too. If there is an open thread that seems interesting feel free to jump in. Or, you can message a character that you believe might fit well with your character (or not!) and see if they want to start something.
Lastly, at certain times there will be "Saga" threads, which are threads based on a specific event that will be part of the site's overarching story. These are usually pretty popular topics simply because there will almost always been NPC villains you are pitted against and you get increased Power Level rewards.
As a side note it should be known that in most threads it is up to you if your character dies, but in Saga threads a NPC controlled by an Admin might kill you in their post if the chance is truly presented. (But out of character we are not going to just start popping you off, we just want you to know it is a real possibility!)
How to gain Power Level or Zeni:
You might be wondering how do I get more powerful? Or how do I buy all those cool things in the Item Shop? Well in order to obtain Power Level (PL) or Zeni you must post. There are multiple types of threads you can do. For starters you can do solo training threads, or training threads with other members. When it comes to solo threads you are allowed six a week, but only up to four of which can be dedicated to Zeni or PL. For example if you do six training threads a week only four of those can be for PL while the other two would have to be for Zeni. There is also the option to do a gravity/simulation enhanced training thread, if you have access to a gravity/simulator, but you may only do two of these a week. Each one of these can increase the gravity you can train at by five so a total of ten a week. Using a simulator gives you the same bonuses as if you were role playing with multiple individuals.
Now PL and Zeni are awarded for all posts, not just training, but when a thread ends you must post which one you would like. Once the thread is completely done someone in it must post it in the Updated Threads area so we can see it is complete and easily access it. There will be two days set aside a week in which we will grade.
As for how our grading system works I am not going to spell it all out for you because that will inevitably lead to someone exploiting the system. What I can tell you is that length of posts does count in a way, quality and content of course count, and some of it is simply left up to how much we enjoyed the post. These things establish a base reward and then modifiers such as weights, gravity, ect. are applied. This type of system we feel is balanced, and also allows for more clever threads to gain more Pl, yet also takes into account the work you put forth.
One final thing I would like to mention is that Zeni is awarded on a smaller scale then PL.
Items to Enhance Yourself
Non-Playable Characters
If you are to look around the site you will notice two types of NPC's. The first is Leaders; they are respective leaders or powerful characters that are basically in charge of their respective areas. The second is school masters/trainers. These NPCs are there for people to train with and learn from, if the Master sees it fit to do so. All of these NPCs are controlled by our Admins and if you wish to start a thread with them simply begin one in their respective domain and add their name into their title like so Example: A New Prospect (Batto/open). You may realize I put open in that meaning anyone else is free to join the thread. If you wanted to try just role playing with the NPC then you could just put his/her name. Keep in mind that in an open thread ANYONE in the same area can join.
Even though these characters are Admin controlled and some are rather powerful the truth is these types of characters are part of the story and can potentially be replaced by Player Characters. Whether the Master chooses to step down or a Leader is killed someone would need to take his place. This is not to say any one position is a guarantee for someone that might want it, but the option is there. One could even potentially try to kill the character himself/herself, but be warned that if such an attempt is made the NPC will defend itself to the best of its ability all the way up to killing a Character, and should a character lose, don't expect the leader (or the area/his allies) to be friendly towards your character.
