It had been a hard battle and in many ways it was hardest on the young man who'd fought in it and was no lying in bed on his boat. Although the plan had been for Ethan to take a beating in order to buy time for either Ethar or Ohkara to build up the energy needed to defeat Frieza, the plan was not executed as intended. Ethar did not follow it from minute one and Ohkara had never arrived, a mystery Ethan would have to ask her about the next time he saw her. In any case, Ethan was forced to do something that he was not well trained in, fighting at range. Virtually all of his offensive and defensive techniques were intended for use close in at short range. However in order to defeat Frieza, it was necessary for the boy to remain at range while Ethar supplied, or rather insisted on supplying a distraction. Only when he had accumulated enough power to ensure victory would the boy use it, but it still had to be at range so that Frieza could not possibly intercept him while on approach. This of course necessitated Ethan having to utilize his skills in ways he had never intended or truthfully, had never even considered. But the day had been won and through a rather novel use of a technique Ethan had originally developed in order to breathe under water.
The new use of his abilities and being forced to fight at ranger were not the only challenges the boy had faced, no the sheer amount of energy he'd collected, focused and channeled was truly mind boggling. Further, he had tapped into a higher form that he not only did not know he possessed, but also was not actually ready to use, in order to pull the attack off. It was this higher form, prematurely activated that had done the most damage to both the boy's body and mind. When the attack had concluded, and Frieza was little more than a talking, charcoal briquette, Ethan had barely gotten a few words out before his mind simply switched off. The strain had been so enormous that the teen had lapsed into a coma and remained in that state for a full two weeks. Thankfully another of his friends, Celeh, had been involved in the battle and had opted to care for the comatose teen after a brief visit to the Central City hospital. The doctors couldn't make heads or tails of the more mystical side of Ethan's trauma, but the physical side was just plain and simple exhaustion. With the prognosis that the boy would likely regain consciousness when his body had recovered from the ordeal, the doctors had agreed to discharge the teen into the young lady's custody. Thankfully Celeh did not have to wait long for signs of Ethan's recovery as the young man would have been mortified if he had taken up any considerable amount of her time. In actuality, it had only been two weeks when one included the hospital stay.
It happened in the mid afternoon, with sunlight streaming in through the west facing windows bathing Ethan's inert form in their golden rays, warming his tanned skin, the boy stirred. Crinkling his nose, the normally half clothed teen groaned and rolled over to face away from the intruding rays as if it were any other lazy morning. Of course it wasn't morning but then again the blue haired boy had no way of knowing that. All he did know is that he was comfortably in bed, his own bed and that in it's self was a surprise considering his last clear memory was doing battle with the white a purple lizard man. “Mmm.. How did... How did I get here?” Ethan asked aloud once he opened his eyes and noted that he was in fact in his own bed. Another surprise greeted him now that his mind had returned to reality, he was pretty sure he was naked under the sheets. Sliding hand down to his nether regions, the boy confirmed it. “Yep, totally naked here... Oh man, what happened? Hello?”
