Today we find our heroine in the center of Central City; standing in front of a large, corkboards bulletin. Gently running a finger across the many classifieds, notes, and fliers, Ohkara searched for a quick way to make a little bit of money. Her funds were running low, and there was one specific item she was aching for- though short on cash, it was only by a little bit, and she didn’t plan to do anything to backbreaking to get it, ”Maybe a nice pet-sitting job…” she mused out loud, ”Or whatever, just something easy…”
It was then that a bright orange flier caught her attention. Studying it carefully the green-haired girl read it out loud: ”Missing: Small spotted dog; comes to the name of Beasty. Last seen around Marcus and Valve St. Big reward if found.” snatching a number from the flier, Ohkara set to work, ”I’ll find this little Beasty!” she exclaimed excitedly, lifting off the ground and into the sky to head to the intersection the dog was last seen. Luckily, judging by the date on the flier, this dog had not been missing long.
Touching down the young woman began asking passersby; indeed there was an advantage to being as cute as she was, her even succeeding in gathering a group of nice men, and even a few women, to help her investigate. As a collective it wouldn’t take too long for them to get a good lead; there had been a sighting of a dog matching the description a few blocks down near a small creek that ran through a park. Of course, the party headed over as soon as they could to start searching.
Though there was no dog, a dog had definitely been there. Again Ohkara would question the general population, asking if anyone had seen a dog around there. An older couple stated they saw a small dog headed West. Following the lead Ohkara would come up to a group of rowdy teens, grouped in a circle around something. The green-haired girl couldn’t make out much at first, but as she neared them it became apparent what they were doing.
Eye widening the girl broke into a full blown sprint- her unrestricted speed making her invisible to the average human eye. Clearing the distance in the blink of an eye, Ohkara would enter the circle and snatch a whimpering dog just as one of the teens readied a kick. Stopping at the edge of the circle the young woman would turn around, firing burning brightly in her yellow eyes, ”So, you think it’s fun to pick on animals?” she asked the group flatly, caressing the beaten pooch close to her breast, ”You think it’s fun to pick on something weaker than you?”
Although her sudden appearance was enough to startle the boys, to say she was particularly intimidating would be a lie. Huffing the teens put on their best macho faces, a pudgier bully stepping forward and cracking his knuckles like he was touch, “What it to ya’, bitch?” he asked, a thick, uneducated accent to his voice, “Wants us to beat ya’ too?”
Another stepped forward, brandishing a threatening fist at the woman, “Yeeeaaah,” he exclaimed; he was more toned then the first, with the body of a muscle man, but his voice was much higher in pitch, and his tone just as disgusting as the first , “Nevahmind ta dog! I wanna piece’a this bitch ‘nstead!”
Ohkara huffed in response, slightly opening the slit in her gi and placing the dog inside. She wasn’t going to let them have a chance of getting the dog again, and she had no plans of just giving them a warning, ”Pieces of trash like you make me sick!” she shouted, spitting in the face of the second man, ”I’ll show you what it’s like to be the weak ones for a change!”
“Oh-ho is that a threat, baby?” a third, burly, bearded man exclaimed as he and three other men stepped forwards. Of course, to the super-powered Ohkara these men weren’t as intimidating as they tried to be.
In the blink of an eye Ohkara appeared behind the first, fatter man. He hand reared up with a karate-chop to the back of his neck, and upon impact the man slumped over, knocked unconscious. Just as fast as the first time Ohkara would vanish and reappear behind the second man, doing the same, her speed far superior than anyone there. Vanishing a third time she would reappear behind the remainder of the group, grabbing two of them by the scruff of their shirts and hurling them into the rest. Toppling over on another liked dominoes, Ohkara pointed a left hand at the last man standing, the bearded man- the one she assumed was the leader, ”See? You’re so weak and pathetic! If I wanted to I could kill you with a sneeze!” she snarled, shaking her head, ”But I am better than that!”
Just as the man opened his mouth to speak Ohkara was upon him, driving a mighty knee into the man’s groin. His eyes went wide, his body sent into convulsions as he fell to the ground, gagging desperately against the pain, ”Take this as a lesson, you piles of scum!” Ohkara orded, stepping away, ”I ever catch any one of you hurting someone, or being pricks again, I will break your freaking legs!” Spitting again at the group she turned and took flight into the sky, rushing to leave the scene.
Landing back near the park she’d show to the search party that she’d found the missing dog, to her luck one of the men there was even a vet and was able to give the dog a check for anything that might have been broken from the abuse. Thankfully, other than a few scrapes and bruises there was no damage. Taking out her phone, Ohkara called the number on the flier and got the address. Offering to divvy up the reward with the group it came as a surprise when the people denied payment, it seemed that they were just genuinely nice people.
At the house Ohkara met the owners of the dog, two older people, a man and wife, living in what was nothing short of a mansion. They were excited to see their dog, and in return invited Ohkara inside their home. Feeding the woman, the couple asked her to explain what had happened, and when she did they couldn’t stop thanking her. By the end of the day, as Ohkara was about to leave the couple turned and handed her a huge sack of zenie, welcoming her to stop by any time she could.
Having forgotten all about the reward, Ohkara at first tried to deny payment herself, but the couple insisted, and she finally caved. Taking the sack of money she, in turn thanked the couple for the reward and hospitality, then headed off on her way. It was too late to hit the store now, but if she went home and got enough rest she’d have no problem waking up early and heading there first thing in the morning!
