After leaving the gravity chamber that had seemingly been abandoned, Brandon had more questions then answers. Who was the Towa woman that was in the simulation that he had encountered? Was it her who made the program and was stalking Brandon? Things were quite confusing, and it made his head hurt.
Wandering out of the building, the dark power he felt that was linger around the area had seemingly vanished, making him wonder. Was he being watched? Looking around, he tried to find any evidence that someone other then him was in or near the abandoned building. But he could not see anything to support his theory that he was being stalked by a crazy woman. Then again, something like that was hard to prove on its own.
Feeling frustrated, Brandon wandered off in the direction of a small community of people. Mostly a farming community, Brandon would soon find out that these people were religious zealots of the worse kind.
As people saw the stranger wandering into their cozy community, woman were shuffling their children indoors, while men were grabbing their weapons. Pitch forks, axes and even firearms were being wielded by the denzins of the small town, as a large group of them emerged to confront Brandon. Stopping in his tracks, Brandon was still frustrated at his situation when he heard a voice yell at him.
This made him lift his head up to se what it was, and saw an angry mob had blocked his path. “Be gone from our community demon! Your kind has no place here!” One of the men said, while others aimed their firearms at him. “Im just passing through. I mean you all no harm.” He said, but it seemed that religious hatred for anything that was even seen as remotely unholy was too strong. Brandon could feel the raw hatred from the group, and took a deep sigh.
“Your foul aura is tainting the souls of our children! Our crops!” He said, as he saw that a man to his right was shaking, and he was holding a firearm aimed at Brandon. “Please, I will leave if you just let me….” He started to say, but the man who was shaking had accidentally squeezed his trigger finger, letting the firearm fire off its metal projectile.
Without being able to react, the projectile hit Brandon in the face while Brandon closed his eyes, bracing for the worst, but he didn’t feel anything. The crowd gasped and Brandon slowly opened his eyes and saw what they were gasping at.
Feeling the warm metal against his cheek, Brandon peeled what he saw was the bullet off of his skin, and saw it had been squished, like it was fired into a solid wall. “What the….” He started to say, before the men in the crowd yelled to kill the demon, and that faith would protect them. Thinking for a split second, Brandon closed his eyes.
“Was this the hatred my dear Rascal faced everyday? And now I to share that fate?” He thought to himself, as the memories that Ohkara had knocked loose earlier started to resurface again, taking a more concrete hold in his mind. Clenching his fist, Brandon glared at the group as they began to open fire on him, as well as throwing their other weapons at him, hoping to destroy him.
“NO MORE!” He yelled, as a shockwave of dark power erupted from him. Holding out his hands, the farmers were starting to grow more frightened as nothing seemed to phase Brandon. Seconds later, they felt something slithering up around their legs.
They looked down to see that their own shadows betrayed them, and had grabbed onto them… and started to pull them down into their own darkness. Hearing the screams of the nearby women watching their husbands and friends slowly being killed by the monster that had come to town, Brandons attention was partially diverted to them as well, as their own shadows grabbed onto them as well, pulling them down into darkness. “It is because of people like you all, that I must become stronger to protect those I love. Your own hatred will fuel this power and I will purify the hatred from this universe of you all!” He said, as the heads of his ‘victims’ vanished into the shadows, which also vanished once their ‘host’ had been absorbed.
Within moments, the area was silenced of the yells and screaming of the people who once lived here. Only the cries of their children were heard from inside the nearby homes, as they parents were gone, right before their very eyes.
Feeling more energy flowing into him from an unknown source, Brandon seemed to calm down a bit, as what he had just done sunk into his mind. Killing all those people the way he did was horrible, and it made him sick to his stomach. “What…the hell… am I becoming? To murder people who were protecting their homes… Why did it feel good?” He asked himself, as he looked down at his hands. They weren’t physically covered in blood, but he knew that the loss of life of dozens were on him, and that was something that wasn’t going to be easy to shake off.
His mind slowly came back to reality as he looked up to one of the houses with crying children in it. Guilt started to overtake him, as he walked over to the door of the home, and opened it. He could hear the children screaming and crying as they ran to hide. Fear, and Sadness. The emotions were so strong, Brandon almost felt like crying himself.
Trying to ignore what was going on, Brandon walked over to a phone and picked it up. Calling Central city’s emergency line, he told the dispatcher that a monster had briefly stopped in the town, and everyone but the children were gone. They told him to stay on the line until emergency services had arrived, but he had no intent on doing so, so he left the phone off the hook, and left the home. He had to leave before police had arrived, and the children pointed him out as the murderer of nearly an entire town.
Looking back into the home he had entered, he saw a young girl peering around the corner of a wall. Her face red and wet from crying. “Im sorry….” Brandon said to the little girl, before he took off into a fast run off into the local forest….
