As he drove down the road, the only thing on his mind was the flash of memories that had been given to him the day before he left, and 59 wondered if more would be released if he were to repeat the experience that had brought about the first. If that were the case, then he was going to have to visit the next town, and luckily for him there seemed to be one a few miles ahead of him. While it was probably a horrible thing to think, the young man started wishing for something disastrous to occur in the small town, but even if there wasn't there was still the chance that a memory would return from some other event.
Increasing his speed, he arrived in town ten minutes later, but there were no obvious signs of distress. Sighing, 59 climbed off his bike and entered the nearest store to see about getting directions to a larger city, but as he entered the building it became quite clear to him that something was definitely off. Everyone seemed really tense, and he was beginning to wonder if his appearance was putting them on edge. Then, a small boy caught his eye due to the fact that he was the only one not staring at 59, but what he was staring at was the counter where a fidgeting cashier had his arms at his sides.
Connecting the dots rather quickly, he grabbed a can of soda out of a cooler before walking toward the counter, and as he did his grip slowly tightened on the beverage in his hand. "If you come out now with your hands raised, I promise not to hurt you too badly, but if you try anything funny then we are going to have a problem." The initial response he got was a snicker that reminded him of a child who thought that they fooled their parent during a game of hide-and-seek.
"How about I just put a bullet through that ego of yours," stated the masked man as he rose up from behind the counter. There was a revolver in his hand that was aimed directly at 59's forehead, but the scarred man didn't even blink.
What he did do was tip one end of the soda can upward so it was aimed at the man, and then his grip tightened so much that the can ruptured at both ends. This caused an explosion of soda in two directions, and one of those was in the man's eyes. The robber recoiled from the carbonated assault, and as his finger started to pull the trigger 59's vacant hand moved at an astonishing speed to force the man's arm upward so the bullet embedded itself in the ceiling.
Letting go of the destroyed can, he grabbed the thief by the front of his shirt and pulled him over the counter, and then 59's eyes stared intently in the robber's. "You really should have gone with the easy way," he stated before throwing him through the door. It wasn't the cleanest way of teaching someone a lesson, but it was the most expedient.
Glancing at the damage that he had caused, 59 knew that there wasn't enough cash in his wallet to cover the hole in the ceiling, the shattered door and the soda that he had crushed. Pulling the keys to his bike out of his pocket, he set them on the counter. "It isn't the latest model, but it should fetch enough to pay for this mess." Not wanting to hear any words of thanks or argument, he quickly exited the store.
Walking in the direction opposite from whence he had come, 59 had only one thought on his mind, and that was 'this is going to be a long journey.'
