Between his birthday party with Ohkara and meeting new people in the park, Ethan was having an interesting couple of weeks and he hadn't even gotten to tell Ethar about his birthday yet. Today though was slated to be something decidedly more mundane as after breakfast he intended to spend the day giving his boat some much needed maintenance and then some basic workouts to keep up his own maintenance. Clad in his usual atire of board shorts and some nicely fitting athletic shoes, Ethan ate his breakfast and started his work. It took about an hour to check over the boat's engines, change all of the fluids and filters and then clean up. While the weather was getting chilly out, that never seemed to bother Ethanmuch so the shirtless teen remained so as he moved onto his next chore, washing the craft. By this time though the sun was riding high enough in the sky that the weather wasn't completely inhospitable.
Moving outside and onto the docks, Ethan filled his bucket, grabbed his sponge and went to work. He was well aware that washing his boat dressed as he was was always a sure fire way to grab attention but the boy enjoyed it so displaying his sleek form was as enjoyable if not more so then the task it's self. Needless to say the boy was a bit of a show off, so much so that as he washed the craft and needed to reach higher, he didn't simply go get a ladder. Instead he utilized his stylized ability to fly and formed his ethereal surf board, hovering up along side the Bommie as he washed higher.

Odd circumstances had been happening to him lately and he wasn't entirely sure what to think about it just yet, but he was at least able to get better sleep the last few days so it didn't bother him as much since sleep deprivation wasn't driving him paranoid. Walking around Central City was a good way for him to get to see the sights a bit more while also getting fresh air and exercise, he didn't want to become rusty from lack of activity. Suddenly he found himself near the water and stopped for a moment to look at the water, it was both calming from the source, but at the same time infuriating for the memories it stirred and he had to turn away to avoid having his day spoiled. Stretching his arms he walked along the edge of the water for at least ten minutes if not longer, he hadn't really paid too much attention to the time, but he did notice that he was at the marina.
His sensing ability alerted him before he saw the person flying into the air with what could only be described as a surfboard, and that left him unable to decide what to think about that as well. Taking out a booklet, he flipped through the pages of it for a moment before putting it into his back pocket and hoping the outer fence as opposed to walking around to the front gate. He walked over to the man that was cleaning the boat on a surfboard which was still weird. "You want any help?" he figured he'd offer and be friendly.

Gliding along next to his bat, Ethan was happily scrubbing down the side of it when a voice from below grabbed his attention. Suds still dripping down the side, the shirtless boy turned and looked down to the dock to see another young man, although definitely older then he was, staring up at him. The guy had red hair, and interesting change to the lineup of strange acting blues, enigmatic blondes and 'voracious' greens that had been his pleasure to either meet or reunite with these past few weeks. The offer to help him wash the boat though was what struck Ethan as a little odd, it wasn't something someone normally did, walk up to someone else and ask if they could wash your boat. Granted perhaps the guy was just curious about his board and wanted a pretext to ask about it, or perhaps he had another reason, homeless possibly but that wasn't really probably as he didn't look too out of sorts. In any case the man has offered and Ethan didn't mind the company.
"Uh, hey, sure." the boy replied with a smile and sailed around, descending to the dock, his board vanishing the moment it touched the wooden structure. "She can be a bit of a hand full when it comes time for cleaning so I always welcome the help. I think I have another sponge around here." he continued and set the bucket of soapy water on the dock and straitened to present his hand to the other man. "Name's Ethan by the way."

The younger man floated down to the dock with his strange surfboard, and as he got closer the scent of it made him curious all the more considering what it smelled like as well, but he supposed that could wait for a bit. Studying over the boat a bit, he figured there were some ways that he could reach things pretty well as always his mind was calculating the best way for him to get things done, and he could probably easily get those spots with a burst of speed. His eyes refocused to the younger male as he extended his hand and introduced himself, Hector took the hand giving it a firm shake.
"Hector, nice to meet you," he went about trying to find a sponge so that he could get started on the cleaning.
It was more of a means to keep himself busy, plus while he wasn't the most social of people this at least allowed him to meet one of the residents of the planet something he would have to do on a regular basis if he decided he couldn't return home. Finding what he was looking for he went about cleaning the boat plus it reminded him a bit of doing similar for the ships the Fire Court had deployed as well, that familiarity allowed some of the tension he'd built up over the years to seep out. One of the few times he felt normal.

Getting a good, strong handshake from the man, Ethan smiled and noted his name. There was indeed a second sponge around, submerged in the sud filled bucket for Hector to use and once the other man started work on his boat, Ethan reformed his board and resumed washing the upper reaches as well. The man's reaction to his board told him one thing, that he was at least familiar enough with ki energy manipulation not to have his mind completely blown by the ethereal craft. This also lent further to the assumption that the man might in fact have sought him out, sensing his energy expenditure, for what reason though Ethan' did not know but he had it in his mind to find out. At the very least the guy might know a thing or two about combat and make a good training partner.
"So Hector, you usually hang around the marina helping people wash their boats?" Ethan asked as he turned over, hovering inverted and dipped down to re-wet his sponge. Asking the question might give the impression that Ethan was new to the city, or the marina at the very least, however only the latter part was true. when he bought his boat nearly a year ago it had been at a dealership somewhere down the coast and in the intervening time it had been either docked at Metropolis Island or out on the ocean. Ethan though knew Central city fairly well, he'd spent nearly six months here with his older as they restored the old Crane school before the war. Now though he's left the business in the hands of more capital minded people, only dropping in to teach the occasional class and instead pursuing a life of greater relaxation the he had during the war.

It was the simplistic nature of the task that allowed him to just not think and instead let his body act accordingly to the task, it made for a simpler way of getting the cleaning down quickly and thoroughly, as it had been ingrained in him during his military service. Although it didn't seem to entirely be possible to just let himself go on autopilot either, he hadn't expected the question from and had to stop to make sure he had caught everything regarding it. He supposed the question was a fair one as well, how many people actually walked up to strangers like that?
"Not really, just something of a distraction for me and it's something to help someone else. Only been here a couple years, but still not really used to things here. Figured I should try to be more sociable," wasn't really much to it, and what would be the point of lying here. He didn't really think too deeply regarding these things, he just went with what was the normal thought process for him. Which was to help wherever he could, something like washing a boat was simple enough, though he would have to learn more about different laws before doing much else as it was now. Plus he had free time for a good portion of the day, so why not use it to the full advantage.

“Ah, need to be more social eh? Haha!!” Ethan responded with a chuckle as he continued to hover upside-down, his arms dangling above his head while he kept the sponge in the bucket. “Well you certainly picked the right guy, I’m like, social guy number one… Yeah.” In truth, while Ethan loved to interact with people, his secluded upbringing in the mountains had left him somewhat out of the loop on what the other kids were using for slang and so his own vernacular was sometimes awkward.
“So anyway what do you do that keeps you so out of social circles?” the shirtless boy asked and then offered his own information in return. “My brother and I ran a school here in the city, and since you were here for the war, I guess you might have heard about it? The Crane school? I still teach classes there from time to time.”
