Cookies in the Woods (Ohkara)

[Ohkara Minamaru]

The mention of a surfer boy instantly drew her attention; peaking around the frame at him as he mentioned two others, the third sounded vaguely familiar, ”That surfer boy… His name wouldn’t happen to have been Ethan Snow, would it?” she asked with wide, curious eyes. It was interesting he’d have met one someone she was close to, within the same week; of course, it was likely no more than a coincidence.

”Do I have a lot of friends?” she repeated with a huff, as if the question was ridiculous. Then, with a twirl of her dress, she waved her fingers at herself, ”I mean, who wouldn’t wanna be friends with someone so beautiful?~” she cooed playfully, enjoying her time dressed so spectacularly. It wasn’t often she went out in anything other than her training gi. It would be a shame if she didn’t milk it for as many compliments as she could get out of it.

His attention also peaked when Ohkara mentioned Ethan by name, so he looked at her and nodded. "Yeah... A friend of yours to?" He asked as he got up to his feet, and also walked underneath the frame he was in the midst of constructing.

As soon as he got underneath, he watched Ohkara twirling her dress, and asking who WOULDNT want to be friends with a girl like her. He couldnt help but snicker and eventually full out laughing at her question. "HAhaha, I have to admit, you do make a good point there. I wish I knew more people like you, Better yet, have more friends that are like you. Id never have a sad day in my life." He said, as his laughing slowly stopped.

He wiped a tear away from his eye as he took a deep breath.

Then he got a bit of an idea as to why Ohkara might of known Ethan, so he took a chance and asked her "So how do you know Ethan? Is he your boyfriend or something?"

At first, his laughter towards her made her uncomfortable; however, as he started talking, it eased her nerves, and brought a very light shade of pink to her cheeks even. A smile rippling across her face, she nodded to him in approval of his answer, that was likely the smartest thing he’d said all day. If he could keep that up, it was highly likely that he would end up on the young woman’s good side.

His next question brought an even darker shade of pink, and then red to her face, ”M-my b-boyf-friend!? she stammered to ask, taking a slight step back. Her left thumb rose to her mouth, and she carefully bit on the nail for a second, as she pondered the idea.

Then, suddenly: ”N-n-no!” she denied, shaking his head as if trying to remove a spider from her hair, ”It’s not like that at all!” Of course, the embarrassment being asked if she had feelings for the blue-haired teen surfer was only amplified by the realization that her reaction meant that she might. Suddenly, she wondered if she would have reacted the same way if it had been Ethar that Brandon asked about.

"Oho, So 'special friend' then? Heh. Well, Better be careful, or some other guy is gonna swoop in and nab ya. Treasure like you, someones gonna come after you eventually." He said with a smile.

Turning and walking back to the temporary 'kitchen', Brandon knelt down to a bad, and took out a small cooler. "Would you like something to drink? Water? Juice? Beer?" He asked as he propped the top of the cooler open.

In the cooler, he took out another bottle, one that said Sunscreen on it.

Setting it aside, Brandon also took out a couple of water bottles from the cooler. Some even had ice still stuck to them, which meant they are very cold, but not frozen since there was water still slooshing inside the bottles.

”S-S-S-S-Special Friend!?” she stammered, her face turning even darker, ”Oh no, no no, no no no no no.” she pleaded, waving her hands from side to side, ”It’s not like that at all!” However, and he moved on to the next topic, her head would hang, and she would let out a sigh, defeated. The mighty Ohkara had finally been defeated. Of course, his rain of compliments helped ease the pain.

His question of drink choice loosely brought her attention back to him, ”W-w-water,” she whimpered, before shaking her head, clearing her throat and repeating herself one more, much more clearly this time: ”Water, please.”

[Brandon]

Smiling as he had reigned victorious in the compliment battle, Brandon picked up a bottle of water, and walked over to her. "Here ya go. Sorry if I upset you in anyway. Sometimes I just go one babbling when I get nervous around girls." He said, as he handed her the water bottle.

"Again, Im sorry if I made you comfortable." He said, with a bit of a sad look on his face. He liked Ohkara, and didnt want to frighten her away since she seemed like she would be an awesome friend to have.

Looking up at the sky, he saw the sun was actually starting to set. This made him smile as he looked back to Ohkara and he asked "Hey Ohkara, you want to see something awesome?"

Taking the bottle of water from him, she quickly grasped the cap with her left hand and gave a vicious twist, spinning it open. Hastily raising the bottle to her mouth, she would take a few gulps; the cool feeling of the water helping to cool her down and allow her to once again regain her composer, ”Don’t worry about it,” she told him, waving a hand in dismissal.

”Seriously, it’s was nothing,” she said with a small giggle. Well, at least the guy seemed fairly nice and caring; despite the weird vibe he was putting off.

His question made her thin, green brow rise with curiosity, ”Something awesome, hmm?” He pondered, putting the cap back onto the bottle of water, and setting it down on the concrete foundation under her feet. Looking up to him, she gave him a bright smile, ”Yeah!~ I’m down!~” she exclaimed with a playful giggle,”Let’s see this ‘something awesome’!~”

Brandon was excited to show Ohkara the 'surprise'. But instead of getting up, He just sat there silently.

"Just wait, the sun has to go down a bit more. This is one of the main reasons why I prefer this spot." He said, as sure enough as teh sun went down, the dark forest slowly turned to a warm orange colour that slowly grew darker, and darker.

But it was what happened next that would make Ohkara gasp in aw and shock.

What looked like fireflies, started to come out from the trees. But each 'glow' was a different colour, and they seemed to hide behind the trees, some even seemingly hiding in the nearby bushes. Behavior that bugs don't usually show...

Looking over to Ohkara, Brandon softly spoke "Sit down beside me, and don't make any sudden movements... Or you will scare them away..."

She waited patiently as the sun went down, with her hands behind he back, slowly rocking back and forth on her heels. As the sky settled to darkness, and the stars took their places in the sky, there was a pleasant sense of peacefulness that set over the forest; Ohkara could feel it, he eyes closing to savor the moment. This was one of those: “Stop and smell the roses”- moments.

Then as Brandon mentioned she should move slow and sit by him, her eyes opened and took in the beautiful image. Colorful lights danced in the sky around her; it was like nothing she’d ever seen before. Nodding slowly, she carefully made her way over to the man, and took a seat beside him; eyes continuously scanning the lights, she was indeed in awe.

Slowly leaning over to his ear, she would whisper: ”A-are those what I think they are?”

[Brandon]

Brandon smiled again as he saw Ohkara was awe struck by the unfolding scene around them. Dozens of different coloured lights danced around them as Brandon slowly looked to Ohkara and replied "Fairies? Yes. Believe it or not, but this small lake here is dead center of one of the last surviving colonies."

One of the glowing lights came closer to them. Close enough that Ohkara could see that it looked like a teenage girl, in a very provocative and revealing outfit. Of course, shes was less then 6 inches tall, and had a pair of wings that kept her in flight. The fairy flew right up to Ohkara, stared her in the eye, then poked her nose and flew off giggling. Of course, both Brandon and Ohkara could hear all the fairies around them giggling.

"Well? What do you think? Pretty awesome no?" He asked, chuckling to himself.

”…~Fairies~…”

Ohkara knew it the moment she saw their graceful and colorful display; unbeknownst to Brandon, fairies were Ohkara’s inspiration in learning to fly. She admired their playful agility, their dancing like movements, the way they treat the sky as their playground; if one inspected her in flight, they might note her similar attitude. Bobbing, weaving, twirling, and flipping about the sky, a graceful and enjoyable display of her abilities through years of practice.

Gawking at the display a moment, she felt like a girl in a novel. The idea seemed ridiculous, but this was something she’d imagined seeing since she was a little girl.

Suddenly, a fairy would near here. Raising a brow, Ohkara gave her a tiny wave, ”H-hello there~” she’d coo so sweetly; only to suddenly receive a –boop- on the nose. Her eyes widened as the small pixie turned tail, and flew away in a fit of laughter. Blinking for a moment, Ohkara remained speechless; she was not mad, or annoyed- she was simply awestruck.

Turning to Brandon after a few moments of silence, she would raise a brow, ”This is amazing!~” she whispered, placing her left hand to her mouth to suppress a girlish giggle, ”No wonder you picked this spot!~”

Smirking, Brandon watched Ohkaras and the Fairie's reactions to eachother and couldnt help but feel that they would get along quite well if given the chance.

After she whispered in his hear, Brandon replied "We kinda have a mutual understanding. If they help me, I help them. Earthlings dont dare to tear down the forest when there is someone like me protecting it. In exchange for helping them, they allow me to live in their sanctuary, where its so nice and peaceful." As he looked back in Ohkaras direction with a smile.

One of the fairies that was watching the pair, tried to tease Ohkara by making kissing noises and giggling every now and then. Another fairy flew up behind the one trying to tease her, and grabbed teh other fairy's ear and seemingly dragged her back into the tree tops, as if she was embarrassing them.

Seeing what had happened, Brandon let out a laugh. "Told ya this is awesome."

”Huh?” she questioned, raising a brow, ”Someone like you? What do you mean?” Of course, she assumed that he was talking about his ki signature; something Ohkara had no intentions of letting on that she could sense. Casting a curious eye over the man, she feigned a cute-surprise, ”You don’t come off very threatening…” Again, she was leaving out the uneasy feeling she’d been getting from him.

One of the fairies teased the pair, and Ohkara laughed playfully; there were no harsh feelings against the magical pixies. Ohkara loved them far too much to taint their opinion of her, ”No doubt, this is really awesome!~” she whispered happily.

Smirking, Brandon replied "I dont eh? Well, if I get angry enough, you could say I can become very scary...very fast..." with a bit of a sigh. He didn't want her to know it, but when his anger got out of control, he can easily become worse then a raging Oozaru at times.

"Don't need to hide the fact that everything about me has a bad vibe to it. Hell, my blood kills local plant life in an instant!" He said, making sure any secrets he had were not secrets to ohkara. He wasn't sure why, but he felt contempt and calm around this woman, and he wasn't sure why he felt that way. "Its weird though, Some of my earlier memories, I was human. I had the same Skin colour as you, and my eyes werent all glowy as they are now. Then after I wake up on a beach, everything had changed... Even my powers are weird, and just reek of evil..."

She looked a bit skeptical of him as he spoke about his anger. The idea brought a slight smile to her face because, unbeknownst to Brandon, she too shared that trait. On many occasions she’d let her anger get the best of her, and normally it was her friend Ethar that caught the blunt of it. The poor guy…

Her expression changed from one of nostalgia to one of sympathy as the man spoke about himself; of course, the declaration about his blood brought a small gasp from the woman. Raising a hand, she gently placed it on his back, patting him sympathetically, ”Now, now…” she soothed him, ”I wouldn’t say evil…” pausing, she had to think for a moment, ”Different, for sure… but not evil…”

Gently placing her other hand onto his knee, she looked him in the eyes, tilted her head to the side, and gave him a beautiful, kind, and caring smile; the kind of smile that cuts right through the darkness, ”Besides, if you really were evil…” she told him playfully, before her tone changed to one of dead seriousness, ”… I’d have to bring you down…”

She let the man stew with the idea for a few moments, before she lost her composure and burst into a fit of laughter. Quickly grabbing hold of her sides, she giggled; but it wasn’t from a joke- it was from the fact she was being completely serious, and had a good idea that this man wouldn’t believe her.
